About the Book
Dan Sidbury grew up in the newspaper business, starting as an assistant carrier for the Oakland Tribune at age seven in 1953. Over the next 36 years, he held almost every job in the Circulation Department before taking the helm as department director in 1984. It was a chaotic time in the industry, where great old newspapers across the country were going out of business. The front-line soldiers in this battle for survival were the youth carriers and employees of the Circulation Department who worked together for one goal: to save the Tribune. This book tells their story through Dan’s eyes, and some of it may be hard to believe, but it is all true.
